Audrey Backeberg, a mother of two and wife of five years left her home in Reedsburg, WI on July 7, 1962. The family was living on Vine Street in Reedsburg where Audrey worked at the local woolen mill.On July 4, 1962 she had filed a complaint that her husband had threatened to kill her, and he had loaded two guns and put them in the trunk of his car.Three days later she went to pick up a paycheck, leaving her children and husband at home.The family's babysitter would tell investigators that she and Audrey took a greyhound bus to Indiana. The 14-year-old came back, but said Audrey had run away.They both got off the bus, and the 14 year old turned herself into police as a runaway and Audrey was seen walking around the corner, away from the bus stop. This is her last known location.
