On September 4, about 7:15 am, Shuttleworth's 14-year-olddaughter spoke with her mother by telephone from a friend's home. Lisa was scheduled to pick up her son from the bus stop in the afternoon, but never showed up. About 8 a. m. , an acquaintance spotted her at the Pit Stop convenience store on Pine Log Road. She must have stopped to get gas. She'd borrowed a car from a friend. She called him at about 10 a. m. , and told him that she was expecting a guest. All phone calls after 10 a. m. went unanswered. When police went to the home they found both her daughter's car and the loaned one in the driveway and a pot of tea on the stove. Her purse was gone. The authorities thinks that she left with someone and all signs points to that she was planning to come back.
