In late 2003, Jackie Orders was on his way to a new life. He was supposed to travel to Florida to visit relatives via a stop-over in Georgia. Jackie spent some time telling his friends goodbye. He packed his suitcase, gathered his medication, identification, and other personal items at his door in preparation for his trip, and then disappeared.

Jackie was something of a free-spirit, often spending the evening or a few days at one of his friend's homes. While he was close with his family, it was not uncommon for him to be out of touch for a little while. When several weeks had passed with no sign or word from him, and after finding his possessions at the door, he was reported missing by his family. Law enforcement has been able to track his movement until November 19. From there, the trail goes cold.

Acting on tips from the public, numerous searches have been conducted in and around Morganton utilizing both officers, the public and cadaver dogs. Foul play is suspected in Mr. Orders' case.
