In mid July Mikee called her ex-husband and asked him if he would pick her up from a local bar in Hysperia, MI because her boyfriends truck had run out of gas. He refused, she called him again about two hours later and that was the last she was ever heard from again. Margaret's sister reported her missing on August 10, 2005. Her burned vehicle was found in the driveway of her residence. There is no evidence that Mikkee was in the car before the fire. She has not made contact with her 11-year-old son, which is unusual for her. She was living with a boyfriend in the Bitely area in northern Newaygo County at the time. She has two adult children from a previous marriage and hasn't worked because of an arm injury. Detectives say they have been talking to a "person of interest" to piece together clues in the case, which has turned into a homicide investigation.
