Betty Roberts left Charlotte, North Carolina with a man called Charles Wegman, who said he was a traveling photographer.The couple told Betty's family they were driving to Maryland.Betty took a taxi to meet Charles at a little motel on Highway 49 North, and drove off with him in a Cadillac.<br< Her sister received a letter three days later. The letter stated she was doing fine and she would write later. The letter was postmarked Baltimore, Maryland. Her family never heard from her again. The man was later identified by the FBI as Charles Dennison.Betty left two young daughters behind. She was divorced at the time. Since she left willingly there was no police investigation at the time.
